Skype users can now utilize ping.fm through an IM bot called pingdotfm. This works exactly the same as Ping.fm's gtalk or AIM bots: send a message to it, and it updates your social networks.
More interestingly, Ping.fm announced partnerships and integration with HootSuite (formerly known as BrightKit), a Twitter Web application for scheduling tweets and managing multiple accounts, and notify.me, which delivers real-time notifications from any feed via many of the methods Ping.fm allows for updates, including SMS, email, and IM.
On the HootSuite side, users of HootSuite can now send out tweets via Ping.fm, meaning all of their social networking accounts can be updated, not just Twitter. The notify.me parntership is intended to be an answer to a common request - to feed social networking data automatically into Ping.fm. Both partnerships also result in additional integration options in the Ping.fm developer API.
