Though unfortunately that restriction isn't going away for the time being, we do have some good news for smaller brands. Facebook has told us that the 1,000 fan restriction will be lifted on June 28, which means that companies, brands, and admins with far fewer fans can start their own gold rush later this month.

We also confirmed that completing the form to prevent registration of a trademarked username will put the username in question on a protected list so that only you can use it. So, there's really no cause to worry about anyone else using your trademarked name, as long as you have a valid registration number and complete the form.
