Google Asks Common Man “What is a Browser?” Common Man Has No Clue [Video]

We know that Google has been heavily promoting their web browser – Google Chrome – going so far as to buy TV commercials in the US. The company has also published dozens of videos, some serious and some comical, to its YouTube channel.

One video gem, uncovered today by The Next Web, reminds us how little the average person knows about basic technology. The company asked random people in Times Square “what is a browser?” Less than 8 percent answered correctly, with the other 92 percent providing fodder for the amusing video embedded below:

While the video is entertaining, it’s actually symbolic of the challenge that Google faces in gaining adoption for Chrome. While Mozilla has been able to gradually grab significant share from Microsoft Internet Explorer, it's taken years, not months.
