Earlier this year, Susan Boyle rose to worldwide fame after a surprising performance on Britain’s Got Talent became one of the most viewed Internet videos of all-time. Now, the singer is coming stateside to appear on the US version of the show – America’s Got Talent – which airs tonight on NBC.
The event is apparently such a big deal in the network’s eyes that they initially told The White House that they wouldn’t air a press conference that President Obama had scheduled for the same time to talk about the marginally more important issue of healthcare reform. In an apparent bowing to the power of Boyle, the administration decided to move the press conference to 8pm, and now, NBC will carry it. FOX, however, is sticking with So You Think You Can Dance.
