ITV remains irked by its past purchases, it seems, with the possibility that it will offload Friends Reunited at a £160 million (approx $263M) loss. Entrepreneur Peter Dubens has put in a £15 million bid for the flagging social network, which once dominated in the UK but found itself steamrolled by rivals like Facebook and Bebo. The offer, made through Dubens' Oakley Capital, undercuts valuations from analysts who put the site's value in the £20 million to £40 million range.
The TV company denies that Dubens is the only bidder, with the Guardian reporting that "ITV insiders maintain that several other parties are also interested and the price being suggested is very much at the bottom end of the range being discussed."
