A 20 million live streams figure comes from a Twitter update by Facebook's Brandee Barker, but MTV sent us word of the much lower 5.8 million estimate. The totals are courtesy of Nielsen. 1.9 million watched the broadcast live online (as opposed to watching it later in the weekend). The Hope For Haiti Now iPhone streaming app was downloaded 100,000 times.
MTV also tracked the number of tweets that were related to the program, and says the number fell to "more than 1 million."
The star-studded telethon has raised $61 million for Haiti earthquake relief.
