Of course, this could be an accidental omission, but Apple's official PR did say, "iBookstore will be available in the U.S. at launch", which probably means "U.S. and nowhere else." It's tough, but when you remember how long it took Amazon to launch its Kindle internationally, I guess it was to be expected. It does add, however, to the theory that the iPad is the jack of all trades but master of none; when it comes to e-books, it does some things better than Kindle, but it also lags in many aspects.
