iPhone 4: 1.7 Million Sold in the First 3 Days

Apple announced it has sold more than 1.7 million iPhone 4 devices in the first three days of sales, from June 24 through June 26.

“This is the most successful product launch in Apple’s history. Even so, we apologize to those customers who were turned away because we did not have enough supply,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO.

This number doesn't sound that big compared to the first optimistic estimate from Oppenheimer’s Yair Reine, who guessed that Apple sold 1.5 million phones on launch day alone.

Nevertheless, selling 1.7 million devices in three days is very impressive. For comparison, Apple sold 8.75 million iPhones in the second quarter of 2010. Now Apple, what do you plan to do about that iPhone 4 reception issue?
