"FrontierVille" Surpasses 20 Million Users

FarmVille creator Zynga has announced that its newest game, FrontierVille, has skyrocketed past the 20 million-user mark in a little more than a month.

In fact, the game jumped from 5 million to 20 million users in just 24 days.

FrontierVille launched on June 9 as an Oregon Trail-style game. It featured many of FarmVille's game mechanics but added other features, such as the ability to control multiple avatars (your FrontierVille family), on one screen.

In addition to announcing the 20 million-user milestone, Zynga also released some in-game stats. Since the game began, 6.3 million people have built cabins, 2.3 million people have gotten married, 1.1 million users have kids and, uh, 252 million snakes have been "clobbered" in FrontierVille.

While FarmVille has experienced wild success on Facebook, Zynga has had to diversify. It struck a deal with Yahoo in May to bring its games onto the Internet portal. More recently, it was revealed that Zynga games are coming to Google in a new product called Google Games.
