The curated deals are a product of a partnership between the startup and InStyle, a Time Inc. property. This marks the third publisher partnership for the group-buying site to date.

The salon deals and locations, as curated by InStyle, are meant to be exclusive offerings that coincide with the magazine's recommendations for top spas and salons in its annual Beauty Black Book.

The deals themselves -- $150 for a $300 Keratin Hair Treatment in Philadelphia or $55 for a $110 tanning session in Los Angeles -- are standard Groupon fare, but the partnership is quite impressive. The Groupons present an opportunity for InStyle to develop deeper relationships with its readers by making its recommendations all the more tangible -- in much the same way that Lucky Magazine is using Foursquare.

There's also the potential for the magazine to supplement its typical advertising model with an influx of Groupon-generated revenue. We don't know what InStyle's cut of the action will be, but since Groupon is expected to gross upward of $400 million in sales this year, there could be plenty of opportunity for profit.

Groupon also works with The McClatchy Company to distribute deals to the local newspaper websites owned by the publisher, and just recently inked a similar deal with local newspaper chain Media General.
