Systrom is also quick to point out that Instagram activity is not restricted to the tech-centric San Francisco Bay Area. "Only 4% of photos shared are taken within the bay area -- the large majority are spread all around the world with cities making up only a fraction. We're seeing growth just about everywhere outside of the tech world," he says.
