With the roof already leaking Saturday night, Fox's lead NFL game producer, Richie Zyontz, told USA Today his team knew what they were looking for. "This was specifically for the roof collapsing," he said.
According to Zyontz, the video crew had heard from stadium maintenance workers that the roof was becoming a real problem and that collapses had occurred in the past. Smartly, the Fox broadcast team decided to set up a camera to visually monitor the roof overnight from inside the stadium. Mr. Zyontz: The Internet thanks you.
What Fox captured was footage of the roof collapsing early on Sunday morning and dumping showers of snow on the field. Since no one was hurt, we can all can enjoy the video for what it is: awesome. The video embedded below has already racked up more than 1.8 million views on YouTube in less than 24 hours, and the game has since been moved to Monday night at Ford Field in Detroit.
