If you advertise with Hearst, expect to schedule a lot of meetings in this room.

Elegance aside, the App Lab does represent a growing commitment to app development within the company, which employs 44 in-house developers, producers, editors and designers. Hearst's titles have launched more than 100 apps across Apple iOS, Google Android, Barnes & Noble Nook and the Zinio Newsstand.

In addition to the beautiful print-to-tablet adaptations of magazines such as Esquire and O: The Oprah Magazine, with built-in collaboration with ScrollMotion, many of Hearst's titles are launching their own one-off paid apps, such as Esquire's puzzle app for the iPad and House Beautiful's paint colors app, which I'm currently using to devise a color scheme for my shoebox Manhattan studio.

The App Lab is located on the 41st floor of the Hearst Tower on 8th Avenue. I'll update this post later with photos.
