Windows Phone Marketplace Hits 40,000 Apps

Thirteen months after the initial launch of Windows Phone 7, a couple of minor and one major update later, the Windows Phone Marketplace has finally reached an important milestone.

40,000 apps are now available in the Marketplace and, while we all know that it always comes down to quality and not quantity, it nevertheless indicates steady growth. The monthly average is almost at 3,100 apps added and, as you can see from the image above, the tendency for growth is certainly there. It's nothing like Google's Android Market or Apple's iTunes App Store, each with more than 500,000 apps, but it's safe to assume that most of the important apps are either already here for Windows Phone users or coming soon.
