“This is our first opportunity to work with Windows Phone. We’re just now starting to see interest from our customer base," Chris Yeh, head of platform at Box told Mashable.
“Even though Windows Phone hasn’t really taken off in any form, we know that this is going to be something that enterprisers are going to be looking it, because they’ve been telling us they’ve been looking at it.”
Box for Windows Phone
Box for Windows Phone brings much of the same functionality you find in the Android and iOS versions of Box’s mobile app to the Windows Phone platform.
“With its dynamic, pinnable Live Tile, easy file and image sharing and enterprise capabilities, Box for Windows Phone, is a great example of the rich applications users can find on Marketplace to take advantage of their phone’s unique features and design,” said Todd Brix, senior director, Windows Phone Marketplace, Microsoft Corp.
With the app, Windows Phone users can:
Pin Live Tiles to your Start screen to see updates on files by colleagues
Batch upload multiple images and videos
Quickly and easily share files and folders as links
Invite Colleagues to shared folders and leave comments on files
Find content with integrated search
Protect content with an application passcode lock
Box is also developing an app for Windows 8 that is available as part of the Windows 8 Release Preview.
Box and Qualcomm
Through a new partnership with Qualcomm, Box is offering Android and Windows phone manufacturers the opportunity to preload Box on upcoming Android, Windows Phone, and Windows 8 devices.
What that means is when you purchase a phone, Box might come preloaded on the handset right out of the box.
Devices that come with Box pre-loaded with also receive 50GB of free storage on the service. Android customers will also receive a bundle of top paid OneCloud apps -– including a PDF annotator, document scanner, and digital signing app.
