Motorola just unveiled the Razr HD smartphone today at an event in New York City, the new flagship of the company's RAZR line.

The new Razr sports a 4.7-inch screen with a resolution 1,280 x 720 display -- about 312 pixels per inch. That's a big upgrade from the current Razr, which has a 960 x 540 display.

The Razr HD will be the new top Droid device that connects to Verizon's 4G LTE network. It packs a 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 processor, just like the Nokia Lumia 920, unveiled a few hours before.

Motorola claims the Razr HD has 85% better color saturation than the iPhone 4S, and a 2,500-milliamp-hour battery that gives better battery life than the Samsung Galaxy S III -- in a smaller footprint. The battery has a life of about 16 hours of talk time, the company says.

The new flagship Razr runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, upgradable to Version 4.1 Jelly Bean by the end of the year. It comes with Google Chrome pre-installed as the phone's main browser.

Like the previous Razr, there's also a version of the Razr HD with a more powerful battery, the Droid Razr HD MAXX. The MAXX version boasts 21 hours of talk time, 27 hours of music streaming over LTE and 10 hours of video streaming over LTE, Motorola says. (See below for picture).
