With so many 7-inch tablets hitting the market, we decided to stack Amazon's latest Kindle Fire products in this display range up against Google's Nexus 7.
And judging by specs alone, the Kindle Fire HD is the better buy.
Although the Kindle Fire HD and Nexus 7 both tout 1,280 x 800 resolution displays -- compared to the newly-revamped Kindle Fire's 1,024 x 600 display -- the Nexus 7 weighs in as the lightest (12 ounces). The Kindle Fire HD is almost two ounces more (13.9 ounces), and the Kindle Fire is 14.1 oz.
Meanwhile, the Kindle Fire HD, which promises 11 hours of continuous battery life, beats out against Nexus 7 (10 hours) and Kindle Fire (8.5 hours) when it comes to charging power. You can also get more memory for your buck with the Kindle Fire HD. It costs $199 for 16GB (or $249 for 32GB), while the Nexus 7 is $199 for only 8GB of storage (or $249 for 16GB).
