Mashable is thrilled to announce that actress and humanitarian America Ferrera and actress Alexis Bledel will join the 2012 Social Good Summit to discuss social media advocacy of poverty-stricken women and girls.

At this year’s Social Good Summit, America and Bledel will appear on stage with Molly Kinder, Director for Agriculture and Europe Policy ONE, Claire Diaz-Ortiz, leader of social innovation at Twitter, Inc. to discuss how social media can change the lives of women living in poverty around the world. They will share experiences from their recent trip together to Honduras with ONE to see how women and girls in one of the world's poorest countries are fighting to pull their families out of poverty.
America Ferrera, best known for her role as "Betty Suarez" on Ugly Betty, will appear in the PBS television series Half the Sky with fellow Social Good Summit speaker Nick Kristof. This series examines the struggles of women in 10 underprivileged countries fighting for change. Alexis Bledel, recently on Mad Men, has been active in voter registration for the upcoming 2012 election.
Ferrera, Bledel, Kinder and Diaz-Ortiz will join world leaders, social media at the Social Good Summit, taking place Sept. 22-24 in New York City. Oscar winning actor Forest Whitaker and Rebecca Moore, engineering manager at Google Earth Outreach and Google Earth Engine, will also be present onstage.
