So you bought a new iPad. Are you feeling burned by the fact that Apple unexpectedly announced a fourth-generation tablet six months after the third generation, making its predecessor obsolete in record time? Do you now resent iPad 2 owners, whose device is at least still on sale?
Well, Apple is apparently trying to make amends with free iPad 3 to 4 upgrades -- at least, if you bought your iPad in the last 30 days.
That was the word from the Apple Store in downtown San Francisco, at least, according to CNET. One reader contacted Apple Care, which confirmed that the policy was in effect.
The San Francisco store, however, claimed that the policy was at the discretion of your local store -- and that they were simply extending the regular 14-day return policy for new iPads alone. Your mileage may vary.
We've asked Apple to clarify the situation, and will update this story when we hear back.
