UPDATE: Tumblr appears to be back online after an outage that lasted for several hours on Friday.
Tumblr had been experiencing service disruptions throughout the morning and early afternoon, which the company eventually chalked up to a problem with its uplink providers.
Tumblr is experiencing network problems following an issue with one of our uplink providers. We will return to full service shortly.

The social network first posted to its Twitter account at 8:34 ET this morning to note that there were problems with its site:
We’re experiencing slow loading or intermittent errors on certain pages and are working quickly to restore performance.
