Facebook users with the updated iOS app can now add Instagram-style filters to pictures uploaded via their mobile device.

In the updated app, users select a photo to upload and then tap the wand icon to reveal 13 filters, with names like contrast, cool, coffee, neon, and black and white. After selecting the filter they want, it's possible to upload the picture directly from the app to Facebook.

The news comes just a few days after The New York Times reported Twitter is working on adding similar filters to its mobile apps.

Not long after Facebook acquired Instagram in April, the company rolled out an app called Facebook Camera, an app nearly identical to Instagram in its filter offering. Although filters aren't new for those familiar with Facebook Camera, it's the first time they have been integrated directly through the Facebook app.

Facebook's newly updated iOS app also includes the ability to send real-world gifts to your friends directly from your iPhone. Gifts vary from cake pops to Uber rides.
