RIM plans to launch the new version of its mobile platform, BlackBerry 10, on Jan. 30, the company has announced.

During the launch event, which will be held simultaneously in "multiple countries around the world," RIM will also showcase two new smartphones based on BlackBerry 10.

"Our team has been working tirelessly to bring our customers innovative features combined with a best in class browser, a rich application ecosystem, and cutting-edge multimedia capabilities. All of this will be integrated into a user experience - the BlackBerry Flow - that is unlike any smartphone on the market today," said Thorsten Heins, president and CEO of Research In Motion.

In May 2012, RIM released a version of BlackBerry 10 to developers, and in September the company revealed many additional details about the platform. It will include an updated home screen, an advanced version of the inbox called BlackBerry Hub, a new BlackBerry Messenger and many other updates.
