Women who work in the game industry took to Twitter Tuesday to express their feelings on sexism in the gaming world.

The stories surrounding the #1reasonwhy hashtag are often of sexual harassment, condescension and misogyny women have experienced working in game development, marketing or journalism. The tweets cover everything from male-dominated studios to women's treatment at conventions. It also discussed the portrayal of female characters in games, and how games are (or are not) marketed to female audiences.

The hashtag was started by a tweet by game developer Luke Crane, which asked why there weren't more "lady game creators."
