Being scolded for playing with your food is a childhood rite of passage. Apparently this guy just never grew up.
Jonathan Dagan, also known as j.viewz, is a 31-year-old musician, producer and songwriter based in Brooklyn, NY who makes music with some innovative objects.
In the video above, Dagan takes a quick jaunt to the produce section of his local grocery store and picks out some tasty vegetables and fruits. Upon returning home, he wires the goods into his Makey Makey "invention kit" and connects it to a synthesizer -- the eggplant is a bass drum, the grapes are bells, the carrot is a high hat and the mushrooms and kiwi make random electronic noises.
Dagan then uses his musical salad to to play the song "Teardrop" by Massive Attack.
"I'm really intrigued by the combination of acoustic and electronic instruments," Dagan tells Mashable. "I started to be obsessed with the 'organic' element in electronic music, sound wise. From there, involving real organic 'buttons' made some funny sense."
The video has racked up more than 180,000 views in just a few days.
"Why don't you put aluminum foil around the eggplant when you roast it?"
