Average Mobile Customer Already Owns 2 Unused Cellphones

Although 45% of American adults own smartphones, only about 11% of mobile devices are recycled, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's latest data. When you think about big tech companies and the new smartphone models they release every year or so, that's a pretty staggering statistic.

But as smartphone use becomes more widespread around the world, mobile consumers are beginning to understand how recycling and donating their devices can create a positive impact.

The infographic below, created by Love2Recycle, shows us why we need a smartphone recycling revolution. Did you know that the average smartphone user has two phones he or she doesn't use? How about that only 0.001-0.003% of electronic equipment is recycled each year? Smartphone recycling has a lot of potential to help create a better and cleaner world, but mobile consumers need to take action.

Do you recycle or donate your unused mobile devices? Let us know how in the comments.
