March Madness Hero Hits on Kate Upton via Twitter

Spike Albrecht sure knows how to live up his moment.

The little-used Michigan guard played the best game of his life in the biggest game of his life on Monday night. Then he woke up the next morning and tweeted some smooth verbiage at supermodel and Sports Illustrated swimsuit covergirl Kate Upton.

With Michigan star Trey Burke sidelined by foul trouble in the first half of Monday's March Madness title game against Louisville, Albrecht stepped in to score 17 first-half points on a variety of long jump-shots and kamikaze driving layups.

Albrecht's underdog persona -- he was a lightly regarded high school recruit and averaged just 1.8 points per game this season until going off on Monday -- instantly captivated sports fans. He became a worldwide Twitter trend and added thousands upon thousands of followers to his account. Even though Michigan lost, Albrecht's god-like performance was one of the game's lasting stories.

So did the loss sink Albrecht into a depression, or leave him content to fade back into obscurity? Not at all, judging by this bold move Tuesday morning:

Upton, a Michigan native, was at the game in Atlanta rooting on the Wolverines. Here's a photo she tweeted from outside the Georgia Dome with her little brother and a friend:

The supermodel has yet to respond to Albrecht's winky-faced tweet, but you've gotta give the kid credit for trying. If he taught us one lesson on Monday night, it's that anything is possible.
