Is This the First Political Attack Ad on Vine?

Just like Twitter, it was only a matter of time before Vine became a political platform. On Friday, the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) released what might be the very first political ad to be published on Vine.

In the six-second ad, the NRCC attacks Elizabeth Colbert Busch, democratic candidate for congress in South Carolina, and sister of comedian Stephen Colbert. The ad shows a series of gloomy people in black-and-white, with the words "Colbert Busch and the labor unions mean fewer jobs for South Carolina," with a voice over that reads the same message.

According to the NRCC, this was "the first time a political organization has launched an actual ad on Vine to attack an opponent." Previously, as reported by The Wall Street Journal, a PAC posted a Vine extract of a longer video campaign against Ken Cuccinelli, candidate for Governor of Virginia.

Colbert Busch is running against former South Carolina governor Mark Sanford. The election will be held on May 7.
