Is Eric Schmidt Using the Moto X in Public?

Google chairman Eric Schmidt was spotted with a smartphone that looks an awful lot like the upcoming Moto X smartphone.

Schmidt was photographed with the phone at a meeting of the tech minds in Sun Valley, Idaho. The phone looks identical to the leaks of the Moto X that appeared in March on Vietnamese blog Tinh te. The only difference is that Schmidt's phone is white, not black.

The Moto X is an interesting phone because it is the first device created by Google in partnership with its subsidiary, Motorola. At the D11 in May, Motorola CEO Dennis Woodside said the phone will be aware of its surroundings and really great at managing power. The Moto X will also be manufactured in the United States.

Google and Motorola are already advertising the fact that the phone was "designed, engineered and assembled in the USA" in gigantic $500 million ad campaign.

The Motorola branding is displayed prominently in this photograph shared on Twitter by photographer Gary He:

The phone is rumored to have a dual-core 1.7GHz with a 720p resolution screen, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of on-board storage and running Android 4.2.2. The camera, which has a very large lens, is rumored to be 10-megapixel on the back and 2-megapixel on the front.

These aren't groundbreaking specs, but the phone is also rumored to be available for as little as $199 off-contract (à la the Nexus 4).

What do you think of the look of the Moto X? Is this a phone you would be interested in buying -- or are the Galaxy S4, HTC One and Sony Xperia Z smartphones enough to keep you salivating? Let us know in the comments.
