Lady Gaga is finally coming back with new music. After hip surgery and a leave of absence from the public eye, Gaga will debut her new single from upcoming album ARTPOP at the MTV VMAs on on August 25.
There have been rumblings of Gaga's return online for the past few weeks, but MTV made the news of Gaga's return official via Instagram video.
While the name of Gaga's new single is still unknown, there has been speculation among fans that the song will be called "Applause" -- due to a photo that was posted on Gaga's site LittleMonsters.com.
Since having hip surgery in February, the typically culturally omnipresent singer has been lying low. In addition to canceling her Born This Way Ball tour, Gaga also went into relative social media silence and updated her Twitter bio with this cryptic message.
While Gaga herself hasn't been tweeting as of late, fans have been able to glean information about ARTPOP from the Twitter accounts of Gaga's team -- most prominently makeup artist Tara Savelo.

Details of Gaga's ARTPOP are still emerging,but it has been confirmed that the album will be an "experience" that consists of an app in addition to music. Never one for a traditional album rollout, Gaga has been teasing ARTPOP for nearly a year since announcing the album's title on Twitter this past August.

Since her initial bloody performance at the VMAs in 2009, Gaga has gone on to win 13 VMA awards and also performed as her male alter ego in 2011.
Other performers at the VMAs will be announced at a later date.
