Katy Perry's 'Roar' Lyric Video Is Eye Candy for SMS Addicts

Pop singer Katy Perry, who is the most-followed female Twitter user with 40.6 million followers, opened the soundproof cage on her new single overnight, unleashing "Roar" for digital download. And on Monday, she released an SMS-inspired lyric video for the song.

Watching the video is like seeing emoji-filled text messages stream onto your phone. The clip breaks away from SMS mode to show where Perry is using her phone: in the bathroom, dining room, gym, car, recording studio and bathtub.

Mashable readers were quick to point out that other artists beat Perry to the SMS-infused lyric video idea:

@BAHjournalist Let's not forget her lyric video is a ripoff of @DILLONFRANCIS... (http://t.co/ThmBBnUknV ) vs. (http://t.co/pq738Osbee ).— Tyler Oakley (@tyleroakley) August 12, 2013

This isn't Perry's first tech-inspired lyric video. For "Wide Awake," she told the story of her recent career events as displayed through Facebook's Timeline feature. Aside from lyrics and highlights, that video featured a picture of Perry with Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
