Sony's Rumored Lens Makes Your Phone a High-Quality Camera

If rumors of Sony's new DSC-QX10 and DSC-QX100 lenses are true, you'll soon be able to snap even higher-quality photos with your smartphone.

According to SonyAlphaRumors, the lenses have built in sensors, Bionz processors, Wi-Fi/NFC wireless connections and SD card slots.

They're not designed with any controls or screens, though, so you need to control them with the attached device (your phone). For instance, if the lens is attached it to your iPhone, you need to zoom in, focus and operate the lens using the iPhone's display screen as a viewfinder. Imagine switching lenses on your DSLR: It's the same thing, just for your smartphone. The lenses are magnetically attached and work with both iOS and Android phones.

While dozens of third-party companies like Olloclip and Mophie have built similar devices, Sony's would be the first from a major manufacturer.

No details about a price or release date have been released, but we're watching closely.
