Report: Yahoo Paying Katie Couric $6 Million per Year

Yahoo will pay Katie Couric $6 million per year to be its "global anchor," a far cry from the $15 million she was earning as an anchor on The CBS Evening News, according to a report.

TMZ cites unnamed sources who quoted the $6 million figure. Couric has a $20 million-a-year deal with ABC, but "not all of that went to Katie personally," according to the report.

A rep for Couric could not be reached for comment.

Yahoo announced last month that Couric would "cover the world's most interesting stories and newsmakers" starting in early 2014. Such a deal was in the works since August, according to reports. Couric has also worked with Yahoo on a limited basis on a feature called Katie's Take for Yahoo News, which includes interviews with celebrities.

Couric's hiring came after New York Times tech columnist David Pogue also announced his move to Yahoo. Pogue's salary has been estimated in the $500,000 to $1 million range.
