Square just made it a little easier for merchants to use its card reader on the go.
The mobile payments startup partnered with Griffin to develop the Merchant Case for the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5s, which has a special compartment in the back to store the Square credit-card reader when it's not in use. The case is also designed to secure the Square Reader in place when it is being used.
The Merchant Case, which was announced at the 2014 International CES trade show in Las Vegas on Sunday, is the first in a new program that will see Square work with developers to introduce accessories for businesses. The case is available now for $19.99.
Square recently refreshed its credit-card reader with a slimmer design, and has introduced a suite of other accessories for business owners this past year, including a "Business in a Box" package, which promises to give merchants all the hardware they need to set up a more modern cash register.
