Tim Cook Is 'Incredibly Optimistic' About the China Mobile Deal

It took Apple a while to finalize a deal with China Mobile, but it seems all that effort will pay off well in the end.

Speaking to The Wall Street Journal, China Mobile Chairman Xi Guohua said "millions" of iPhones have already been ordered by customers, two days before the device's official launch on Jan. 17.

Apple CEO Tim Cook spoke to the WSJ as well, saying he's "incredibly optimistic" about the China Mobile deal. "Today is a beginning, and I think there are lots more things our companies can do together in the future," he said.

China Mobile has a huge reach and some 760 million subscribers, which could spill into many millions of sold iPhones (both the iPhone 5S and 5C are available in China) for Apple. It will be hard to catch up with Android, though, which according to a recent report has 59% market share in China and is rising fast.
