Delta Air Lines introduced a new in-flight Wi-Fi product Wednesday. The new in-flight Wi-Fi Mobile Pass is available for as low as $1.95 on flights shorter than two hours. The price increases depending on the length of flight and route.
The pass allows flyers to use mobile messaging apps and browse the Internet on their smartphones at a discounted cost. Travelers can pay for a full-day of browsing on tablets and laptops for $14.
Southwest recently introduced gate-to-gate messaging services starting at $2.
When asked if Delta launched the new rate in response to Southwest's service, a Delta spokesperson responded, "The travel industry by its very nature is very competitive and we're always very aware of what our competitors are doing."
