Lunar New Year celebrations begin on Jan. 31, and run for 15 days full of parades, candy and firecrackers to ward off demons.

Also known as Spring Festival, 2014 is the Year of the Horse, which is supposed to be a lucky one. People born in the Year of the Horse will supposedly be talented, cheerful and popular.

But before the festivities begin, many revelers travel back home to Asia, leading to what is reportedly the world's largest human migration.

The party kicks off in a few days, but preparation for Lunar New Year is already underway in places around the world, particularly in East Asia. Check out 12 photos from the event, below.
