3D Printshow: A Mind-Boggling Display of Art, Fashion and Design
This pint-sized 3D-printed bust is an almost exact replica of the popular meme, Success Kid.

3D Printing is the real-world answer to the magical question: What if you could make anything? The ability to print on three axes in layer upon layer (solid or with a honeycomb lattice-work inside) has made 3D printing the medium of choice for designers, artists, architects and almost anyone with a fertile imagination.

That versatility was on full display on Wednesday night at the 3D Printshow in New York City.

It’s not a big show -- just 58 vendors squeezed into New York City’s Metropolitan Museum -- but the range of creations, from art and human body part reproductions, to life-size comic-book heroes, building-sized beams and fashion was stunning. To manage all of it, organizers broke the show into three distinct sections: an art show, a trade show and, finally, a fashion show, complete with a runway.
