Parts of the United Kingdom today are soaking in the wettest weather that country has seen since 1766, and it's caused flooding all over Southeast England.

Government officials have issued 16 flood warnings -- meaning lives are at risk--  and hundreds of lower level flood alerts for different parts of the country as rain and wind continue to pound U.K. residents. The floods have engulfed 5,800 English properties since December, according to CNN, and 1,100 homes along the Thames River, in London, have flooded over the past two weeks.

Prime Minister David Cameron canceled a trip to the Middle East to monitor the damage and has pledged $16 million to help farmers whose crops have been soaked. He also said soldiers would be deployed to help residents in need.

The Thames is of particular concern to government officials. Its water has risen to levels not seen for 60 years, and Cameron has said the weather is likely to get worse before anything gets better.

Below, are some images from the storm.
