Life is too short to not be happy.

That's the message that the second-annual International Day of Happiness aims to promote on a global level Thursday. The "24 Hours of Happiness" initiative is an effort supported by the United Nations Foundation and fellow organizations to encourage people to take action to create a happier world for people everywhere.

Already, thousands of people are joining in this day of happiness by sharing inspirational quotes, positive messages and images using the hashtag #happyday. Mashable is curating these posts throughout the day in the RebelMouse below, and we'll also be sharing in the happiness as well.

So tell us: what makes you happy?
