"Time is a flat circle," Rust Cohle infamously said in the first season of True Detective. "Everything we've ever done or will do, we're gonna do over and over and over again."
Everything, that is, except watching two male leads stalking a Bayou killer on True Detective. Season 2 will have three lead actors and take place in some obscure parts of California, series creator Nic Pizzolatto (above, left, with Season 1 star Matthew McConaughey) said in an interview with the radio show To the Best of Our Knowledge.
"We’re working with three leads," Pizzolatto said. "It takes place in California -- not Los Angeles, but some of the much lesser known venues of California -- and we’re going to try to capture a certain psychosphere ambiance of the place, much like we did in Season 1."
Pizzolatto also let slip that casting hasn't really started "in earnest," despite rumors last week that Jessica Chastain was offered a role (which was shut down that same day). It doesn't look like we'll see any of the side characters from Season 1 returning, either.
"The characters are all new, but I’m deeply in love with each of them," Pizzolatto added. "We’ve got the entire series broken out with a couple of scripts, and we’ll probably start casting in earnest in the coming months."
For now, all this really means is we can return to kooky fantasy casting, as Twitter hams dusted off the the hashtag #TrueDetectiveSeason2 for the upcoming season's three-headed monster chaser.

Of course, neither of those would work -- isn't there supposed to be at least one female lead in this iteration? Or maybe all three are.
Another one that would be, well... fierce, I think is the word. #TrueDetectiveSeason2 pic.twitter.com/D0qwey3qpa
