New Doctor, old villain? If the new teaser for the eighth season in the revived Doctor Who series is any indication of what 12th Doctor (played by Peter Capaldi) will be up against when the show returns Aug. 23, then we may be seeing a familiar archenemy very soon.
"I see into your soul Doctor -- I see beauty, divinity, hatred," says the creepily voiced narrator of the 16-second teaser video, which shows the Doctor apparently being electrocuted.

The distorted voice sounds eerily similar to Davros' perhaps because it is him. Davros, the scarred mastermind behind the deadly Daleks, is an evil sedentary scientist from another planet. The BBC has yet to confirm whether Davros will indeed be back.
Upon hearing the voice in the teaser, Whovians expressed their excitement on Twitter:
Is Davros coming back in #DrWho? I hope so #CantWaitForSeries8 @RealGeorgieGirl @Mark_Walker @dakev6 @BrettPritchard1 pic.twitter.com/vPeRDuTd6o— Steve Powner (@StevePowner) July 4, 2014
People are saying the voice could be: Davros Dalek Caan Dalek Prime Minister Eternal Dalek I WANT TO KNOW AND I WANT TO KNOW NOW— I AM NOT A DALEK (@Jenzalore) July 4, 2014
If the rumours of Davros in the new series of Dr.Who are true I am gonna lose it!— Mike Smith! (@mikesmithtv) July 5, 2014
Hopefully Davros won't be ranting and waving and pointing like a drunk trying to get served after last orders in #DoctorWho again.— The Weirwolf (@jon_weir) July 4, 2014
Capaldi, alongside companion Clara Oswald (played by Jenna Coleman), will star in his first full Doctor Who episode when the show's latest season debuts on Aug. 23. The first episode, "Deep Breath," will air at 8 p.m. ET on BBC America.
Capaldi assumed the role in the final minutes of last year's Christmas special, taking over for Matt Smith (see video, below), but this new episode will officially launch the 56-year-old's run as the 12th Doctor.
The franchise celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2013 to much fanfare.
Samuel Anderson will join the cast as Coal Hill School teacher Danny Pink this season, which will include guest spots from Ben Miller, Keeley Hawes and Tom Riley.
