Fans who've been patiently awaiting the two-decade return of Mad Max were rewarded with a trailer for the next film at San Diego Comic-Con.
Directed by series creator George Miller, Mad Max: Fury Road continues the dark, dystopian tone of the original trilogy, and picks up right after the original Mad Max leaves off.
The trailer features plenty of Max -- now played by Tom Hardy instead of Mel Gibson -- and his rusty Interceptor. It has the same grit and violence as the original film, which debuted in 1979.
Mad Max: Fury Road is slated to hit theaters on May 15, 2015.
