Though as Agent Coulson warned his super-hacker Skye (Chloe Bennet) that she might not like what she finds on her quest to find where she's from, we certainly like the latest news out of S.H.I.E.L.D. HQ.
Spoilers ahead ...

We're going to meet Skye's father in Season 2 of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
The role will be played by Kyle MacLachlan, who most recently appeared on NBC's Believe. The character is set to appear in the early part of the new season, which is currently in production. And if Ming-Na Wen's tweets are any indication, it's been brutal.
Just one of several bruises from being #badass #agentMay. Pretty, huh? Time to pick up some arnica! #AgentsofSHIELD pic.twitter.com/YyYZhPPT7I— Ming-Na Wen (@MingNa) August 3, 2014
Skye's search for more about her past was a driving factor for the character during Season 1 of the series, and the finale hinted at major movement on the storyline in season 2. (Remember the whole "I found your daughter" scene?)
In addition to his role in the recently canceled Believe, MacLachlan was last seen on CBS's How I Met Your Mother, reprising his role as The Captain in the final season, as well as the Mayor of IFC's Portlandia.
S.H.I.E.L.D. premieres Sept. 23.
