The Strain will continue to spread into Season 2.
FX has renewed the uber-creepy vampire drama from Guillermo del Toro and Lost creator Carlton Cuse for a 13-episode sophomore season, set to debut summer 2015.

News of the renewal, which comes as a surprise to no one, comes in the middle of The Strain's Season 1 run, with seven episodes remaining.
Back in June, the first episode became the most-watched series premiere in the network's history, with 12.7 viewers, and is the No. 1 new cable series, averaging 4.5 million viewers -- a figure that's inclusive of seven days of DVR playback.
Starring Corey Stoll, the show, based on the novel of the same name, is about a viral outbreak in New York City that turns people into vampires -- among other horrific things.
“Working with Carlton, Chuck and FX has been immensely rewarding," del Toro said in a statement, "and we have such sights to unveil in the upcoming episodes -- the blood hits the fan on this one, mankind becomes an endangered species."
