Here's a TV power couple if we've ever seen one: Hulu announced Monday that it has ordered straight to series a project from J.J. Abrams' Bad Robot and Warner Bros. TV based on the novel 11/22/63 by Stephen King.

The thriller, released in 2011, tells the story of a teacher who travels back in time to prevent the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, a journey that leads him to encounter Lee Harvey Oswald and face a past that may not want to be changed.

Former Friday Night Lights scribe Bridget Carpenter is set to executive produce and write the series, which is billed as a nine-hour limited event.

"If I ever wrote a book that cries out for long-form, event TV programming, 11/22/63 is it," King said in a statement. "I’m excited that it’s going to happen, and am looking forward to working with J.J. Abrams and the whole Bad Robot team."

Abrams, whose Bad Robot brought Fringe, Person of Interest and Lost to TV, is, of course, hard at work on the upcoming Star Wars film. And King currently serves as an executive producer on CBS's TV adaptation of his book Under the Dome, which closes out its second season Monday night.
