The New York Mets on Thursday afternoon unintentionally (at least, we think it was unintentional) pulled off one of the most well-timed, serendipitous troll moves in the long and storied history of Major League Baseball beat writers' complicated relationships with the teams they cover.

Anthony DiComo covers the team for MLB.com. He tweeted out this little tidbit on Thursday afternoon:
One of baseball's oddities: #Mets can become the first NL team in 15 years to go an entire season without balking: http://t.co/ipBbi8Uftg— Anthony DiComo (@AnthonyDiComo) September 25, 2014
Then -- literally two minutes later -- courtesy of Mets pitcher Dillon Gee against the Washington Nationals:
OH MY GOD THEY JUST BALKED!!!!!!!!!!!— Anthony DiComo (@AnthonyDiComo) September 25, 2014
(A balk, for the uninitiated, is an illegal move by the pitcher while on the mound. MLB's official rules have more detail.)
Is DiComo magic? Can he control the future? We don't know. But we do know his next tweet was, shall we say, priceless.
Mets on the brink of going a full season without randomly giving me $1 million.— Anthony DiComo (@AnthonyDiComo) September 25, 2014
So far, that one hasn't come to fruition -- but the Mets' final game isn't until Sept. 28, so DiComo can still hold out some hope.
