Hollywood's most eligible bachelor just tied the knot.

Actor George Clooney wed human-rights lawyer Amal Alamuddin in a ceremony in Venice, Italy, on Saturday night.

The couple wed at the Aman Canal Grande Hotel surrounding by their families and a long list of A-list guests, including Matt Damon, Bono and Cindy Crawford. The ceremony was conducted by Walter Veltroni, the former mayor of Rome and Clooney's close friend.

Press and paparazzi swarmed Venice before and during the ceremony, following the wedding party and guests, as they sailed around the canals on boats. Instagram users caught pictures and video of the pursuit.

Clooney was also heavily photographed as he, Crawford and her husband had breakfast on the terrace of his hotel Saturday morning.

The Saturday-evening ceremony is only symbolic, as a civil ceremony is expected to take place on Monday. A 50-foot stretch of the Grand Canal waterway in front of the 16th-century Cavalli Palace, a common civil ceremony location, will be closed for two hours that day; Venice city officials cited the Clooney nuptials for the closure.

Clooney had vowed to remain unmarried since divorcing Talia Balsam in 1993, after four years of marriage. He announced his engagement to Alamuddin in April; the couple met through Clooney's charity work.
