As we covered the 2014 midterm Senate elections on Nov. 4, we tracked the balance of power in the clearest way possible: with Lego bricks.Democrats started the night with 45 seats safely in their column (represented in blue). Republicans had 42 (denoted in red). That left 13 seats up for grabs — those are the coveted yellow bricks. Republicans defended three of them and picked up at least seven — enough to win control of the Lego Senate. (And the real Senate.) Alaska is the only yellow brick left. Also, the Louisiana race went to a runoff. We went with a white brick for that one.
