SAN FRANCISCO -- For a team whose nickname for its duo of sharp-shooting stars Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson is the Splash Brothers, a toilet-shaped arena would have, in a sense, been perfect.

But -- thanks at least in part to the harsh judgement and mockery of social media users -- the giant toilet-like building will not be plopping down in the City by the Bay anytime soon.

The Golden State Warriors, you see, are in the process of moving from Oakland to San Francisco within the next five years or so. But first, they need a new arena to play in after making the move.

In September the team unveiled what, at the time, were the latest design renderings for their new arena in the Mission Bay neighborhood. Those renderings showed a building that looked undeniably like a toilet:

This tweaked rendering takes some liberties, but in case you didn't see the toilet-ness the first time around:

The hypothetical arena, as you've no doubt gathered by now, was widely and derisively mocked by the global two-bit peanut gallery we like to call social media.

Now fast-forward from September to this Wednesday. The Warriors released an updated set of renderings that look much less like something a potty-trained Godzilla would use.

Warriors President and COO said on Wednesday that tough love from the social media set helped prompt the updated design, according to Diamond Leung, Warriors beat writer for the Bay Area News Group, and Sal Castaneda of KTVU.

“We are trying to flush the toilet bowl forever out of people’s consciousness,” Warriors arena consultant Jesse Blout told the San Francisco Chronicle.

Here's a look at the latest rendering, released Wednesday.
