LOS ANGELES -- "Huh."

Paul Rudd's reaction was about the same as ours to this first (ahem, full-sized) trailer for Ant-Man, the next Marvel Cinematic Universe offering that's due July 17. The teaser went online Tuesday night, shortly after it premiered during the first two episodes of Agent Carter.

Which isn't a bad thing -- it's just not quite what we were expecting. And that may be a good thing.

Ant-Man was always supposed to have more of a comedic undertone than your standard Marvel movie, thanks in large part to original director/screenwriter Edgar Wright, who quit the the project that was reassigned to Peyton Reed (also of a comic background).

And though there are some funny beats here, there's no mistaking it -- this looks pretty serious.
